The Midnight Sun Festival x Iceland

Benjamin Hardman’s Top 5 Natural Sights To See While At Secret Solstice 2016

A native of Australia, photographer Benjamin Hardman made several trips to Iceland before deciding to make our volcanic island his new home. Already getting a lot of attention locally due to his talents behind a lens, as well as collaborations with Icelandic brands (including our festival partner 66ºNorth), Ben’s  photography speaks for itself.

He’s put together his top five places to adventure to in Iceland while you’re here for Secret Solstice 2016, along with one of his own stunning images taken at each spot. This should give you some inspiration for unforgettable places to see when you’re here for the solstice weekend in 2016.

GOÐAFOSS

“Heading through the North of Iceland will take you past one of the most majestic falls in the country. Definitely a great stop along a ring road trip, and only a short drive from Akureyri.”

“This place is literally wild. With a seemingly endless expanse of volcanoes and huge canyons, this place will make for a great adventure out into the countryside. An easy way to travel to the area is via a highland bus from Reykjavík.”

STOKKSNES

“A great turn around point for a trip through the South. This beach is otherworldly with these unique sand dunes all over the place, and the mighty Vestrahorn in the background.”

“Definitely a must see! Crazy free standing cliffs located just a short drive from the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. So many photo opportunities here, and remember to take a hike to the end of the canyon where you will be treated with a nice little waterfall.”

SKÓGAFOSS

“One of the classics. With the midnight sun shining, this is a cool place to head during the later hours of the evening to catch the soft warm light as it hits the falls.”
