Kúra [IS]

The Danish/Icelandic electronic duo Kúra (Fanney Ósk Þórisdóttir and Brynjar Bjarnfoss) released their debut EP ”Multicolor” back in 2010. Two years later in 2012 they released their first album “Halfway to the moon” and performed at Roskilde Festival the following summer. And now, after a few years off the radar Kúra is ready with their new EP.

The first single ”Our Sun” features the renowned New York based rapper Zebra Katz, who has positioned himself as one the leading artist within the American queer hip hop scene. The result is a transatlantic collaboration that combines Kúra’s beautiful ambient soundscapes and a special Nordic vibe with Zebra Katz’ unique rhythmic flow.

”We met through a common friend from the electronic music scene in Copenhagen, and Zebra Katz just loved the track when he first heard it” Brynjar tells. “Zebra Katz only spent a couple of hours in our studio writing lyrics and recording his part. He was really productive and professional to work with” Brynjar elaborates.

Along with the single Kúra releases a brand new music video that supports their Nordic sound with stunning pictures of Iceland’s nature combined with surreal film noir sequences with lead singer Fanney Ósk. “The music video was created based on all different kinds of inputs from the guys that shot the video. And we just love the result” Fanney tells.

”Our Sun” is the first single from a forthcoming EP released in the beginning of 2016.
