Red Bull presents Into The Glacier w. BAYA & aYia

Red Bull presents a special night at Secret Solstice, where the Norwegian electro experimentalist BAYA will perform his debut ’Oslo – Harlem’ inside the Langjökull glacier. The audience can expect to dive into a world of hypnotic electronic music and his self-made masks in the tradition of his fathers native country, the Ivory Coast – all equipped with MIDI-synced lighting.

Now, he will be bringing his world to what is probably the most exotic venue on the planet, as he will merge his vibrant productions and psychedelic visual arts live show, with the ice cold interior of Iceland´s second largest glacier, Langjökull.

BAYA (Andrew Murray Baardsen) has quickly become known as one of the most innovative and conceptual artists in the Norwegian music landscape, constantly pushing the envolope and the dinstincions between music and art. His debut release, ’Oslo – Harlem’, came out this February via Luft Recordings and Obscenic (UK), and has already taken him to SXSW and garnered interest from international music press. What really sets BAYA apart from the rest of the electronic music scene in Norway isn’t just his unique vibe or complex productions, but the powerful and personal concept that lies as a foundation for everything BAYA does.

Inspired by his first meeting with his father, Bruno Baya Sompohi, some years ago in Harlem, BAYA was led on a journey and quest to explore their relationship, his own history and a new side of his family. Andrew and his father’s shared passion for art and creative expression was the start of the project, BAYA. Bruno is an artist, and has made traditional masks from his native country, The Ivory Coast, his trademark. This winter, Andrew travelled to Harlem to expand his BAYA-universe, and together with his father he created 18 of these traditional masks. The masks have been equipped with LED-lights that react to the rhythm and dynamics of the music, live, as they dance to the tunes of ’Oslo – Harlem’.

Now, he will be bringing his world to what is probably the most exotic venue on the planet, as he will merge his vibrant productions and psychedelic visual arts live show, with the ice cold interior of Iceland´s second largest glacier, Langjökull.
