The Midnight Sun Festival x Iceland

6 Ways To Save On Your Secret Solstice 2016 Travel

Even though you might be coming from far away to experience Secret Solstice’s midnight sun, saving a little money along the way isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Especially when it means more in your pocket when you arrive for food, drinks, and entertainment during our festival weekend.

Because of this, we’ve put together a handy guide on getting to Iceland for our third event between the 16th-19th of June 2016, to help you get here in 2016, without breaking the bank.

1. GETTING TO REYKJAVÍK IS CHEAPER THAN YOU MIGHT THINK

wow

Although Iceland can seem very secluded, it’s not as far away (or as expensive) as you might think it is. We’ve found flights from as little as $200 return from the UK, $220 return from mainland Europe, and $600 return from the USA, for 2016’s festival weekend, and that’s without saving any extra cash bundling together in a package. We recommend you get on flight aggregators like Kayak and Skyscanner now to check out costs from your nearest city, just so you can see how reasonably-priced it is to skip to Secret Solstice this June.

2. YOU CAN SLEEP ON SITE FOR THE LOWEST PRICE POSSIBLE

Trust us, we know: hotels can get super expensive during major holiday weekends, so that’s probably not an option for everyone. The good news is we have a campsite right next to our 2016 event site that will have you saving big bucks, as you can rest your head here for only 9,900kr (approx £55/€70/$81) as long as you bring your own camping gear. And if you don’t wanna lug that with you to Iceland, our partner Rent-A-Tent will pre-pitch you a tent before you arrive. Oh yeah, and it’s Iceland’s only “Eco Certified” campsite as well, meaning you’ll have the lowest impact possible on the environment when you stay here.

3. STAY AT SOMEONE ELSE’S PLACE

Camping isn’t for everyone, but there are lower-priced ways to get a good night’s sleep. Reykjavík has a HUGE number of AirBnB options, as well as private home rentals, which may save you a lot over going straight for a hotel.

4. STAY AT SOMEONE ELSE’S PLACE FOR FREE

But what if you’re a total cheapskate, or wanna experience staying at a local’s house? If that sounds like your cup of tea, you can connect with locals on Couchsurfing who may let you stay with them, if you’re as awesome as all our other ticket holders.

5. COMPARE YOUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

If you’re not sure where you wanna stay, or have trouble deciding between hotel, hostel, or private apartment, there are a ton of sites to help you choose the best option, or get the lowest price. We recommend Booking, Hotels, or Last Minute for most options, or Hostel World and Hostelbookers for guesthouses and cheaper accommodation.

6. YOU CAN SAVE EVEN MORE BY BOOKING A PACKAGE

If all of the above isn’t enough, you can save event more by booking your entire travel experience together. In 2016 we’ve partnered with Festicket (festival ticket and accom only) and Festlane (festival ticket, flights, and accommodation) to bring you discounted deals on booking your entire festival experience in one place. Some of this packages even includes a midnight party in one of the best yacht of the kind which you can read more about it online, but these ones will cost a little bit more.

However you choose to get here, we can’t wait to see you with us in the midnight sun between the 16th and 19th of June 2016.  And if you still don’t have a ticket to our biggest event ever, now is the time
