Please note that the available roles on the page are split into 3 different segments Festival Volunteer Roles, Pre-Festival Volunteer Roles and Management Support Staff/Longterm Volunteering Roles.

Festival Volunteer Roles

Artist Liaison Crew

 

All Artist Liaison roles have been staffed for Secret Solstice 2017 and applications are now closed.

Box Office / Accreditation Staff

The Box Offices and Accreditation Windows are where we sell and exchange tickets for festival Wristbands, check off guest-lists, check and hand out Press Credentials, and make sure all our Artists, Staff and workers get the right pass for their job. You are the first face that our audience will see. This volunteer Crew is extremely important and needs people that are friendly, honest, and can interact well with people on a number of levels.

 Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with customer service and hospitality
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Good written and spoken English skills

Please note:

  • You will be provided with a detailed information package about the festival site and your responsbilities in advance to the festival.
  • You will be provided with a Secret Solstice volunteer T-Shirt from volunteer accreditation before you placement. It’s mandatory to wear the T-shirt during your shift.
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or heels) while on duty.

Shifts:

2 x 8 hour shifts required for a Weekend Wristband. This will require one morning shift and one evening shift.

Merchandise Crew

All Merchandise Crew roles have been staffed for Secret Solstice 2017 and applications are now closed.

Production Assistants Crew

The Production Assistants Crew assists our Production and Event Management with any tasks that arise. This crew has a broad range of tasks ranging from runner duties, assisting stage managers and assisting event control. Volunteers for this crew must be friendly, helpful and be ready to adapt to any situation as it arises.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with event production and management.
  • Experience with audio equipment, lighting rigs and stage management.
  • Experience with office management and general office duties.
  • A valid drivers license.
  • Good physical strength and a healthy back

Please note:

  • You will be provided with a detailed information package about the festival site and your responsbilities in advance to the festival.
  • You will be provided with a Secret Solstice volunteer T-Shirt from volunteer accreditation before you placement. It’s mandatory to wear the T-shirt during your shift.
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes while on duty.
  • Tasks might include lifting.

Shifts:

2 x 8 hour shifts required for a Weekend Wristband. This will require one morning shift and one evening shift.

Stewarding Crew

This very important volunteer crew makes sure that our audience know where they’re going, how to get there, monitor areas to make sure everything is safe, be able to answer questions from people and help where necessary. Volunteers for this crew must be friendly, helpful and be ready to adapt to any situation as it arises.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with crowd control and security operations
  • Experience with First Aid or other medical training
  • Experience with customer service and hospitality

Please note:

  • You will be provided with a detailed information package about the festival site and your responsbilities in advance to the festival.
  • You will be provided with a Secret Solstice volunteer T-Shirt and a Hi-Vis vest from volunteer accreditation before you placement. It’s mandatory to wear said items during your shift.
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or heels) while on duty.

FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER ROLE APPLICATION FORM

Pre-Festival Volunteer Roles

Site-Art

This wonderful crew works on building and decorating the Secret Solstice 2017 festival site alongside our amazing Creative Director and Site-Art team. This is the perfect crew for creative and hard-working applicants. An added bonus about this crew is that you get to enjoy the festival in it’s entirety! The crew is split into two different teams, the Site-Art Build team and the Site-Art Decor team.

Site-Art Build Team

The Site-Art Build Team take care of building installations and structures at our warehouse and on the festival site. Please be advised that this role can be physically demanding and may require heavy lifting and manual labour and therefor it’s important that you’re in good physical shape.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Previous knowledge and experience with using power tools especially drilling and screwing together elements of construction.
  • Good feel for structural composition.
  • Experience with hand-tools for an example jigsaws, handsaws and hammers.
  • Good physical strength and a healthy back
  • License to operate heavy plant equipment (forklifts, cherrypickers etc.)

Site-Art Decor Team

The Site-Art Decor Team take care of decorating the festival site with art pieces as well as painting and decorating installations and structures built by the Build-Team. Please be advised that you might be working with paint, spray-paint and glue that can give off hazardous fumes and strong odours.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with decorating environments (painting, spraying, applying texture, stapling, tying, stringing up and glueing)
  • Previous knowledge and experience with using power tools especially drilling and screwing together elements of construction.
  • Experience with hand-tools for an example jigsaws, handsaws and hammers.

Please note:

  • You will be provided with all the necessary tools as well as gloves, protective masks and eye-protection needed for the job at hand.
  • Please wear suitable workwear (not your favourite hoodie for an example)
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes (preferably hard-toe shoes or boots.)

Shifts: 

You have the choice of either:

1) 3 x 8 hour shifts before or after the festival for a Festival Wristband.

2) 6 x 8 hour shifts before or after the festival for a V.I.P Festival Wristband or 2 Festival wristbands i.e earn a wristband for your partner or friend!

Site Crew Build and Break Team

The Site Crew Build Team take care of preparing the festival site for an example setting up fences, scrim and other site materials. Please be advised that this role can be physically demanding and may require heavy lifting and manual labour and therefor it’s important that you’re in good physical shape.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Good feel for structural composition with an attention to detail​
  • Experience with hand-tools
  • Good physical strength and a healthy back

Please note:
