2016 was a great year for Sturla Atlas. Named the “Newcomer of the Year” at the Icelandic Music Awards, he released his sophomore mixtape in June and went on to have one of the biggest songs of the Icelandic summer, “Mean 2 U”.
With a massive domestic following larger than ever and rising international attention, Sturla Atlas has placed himself on the forefront of Iceland’s thriving hip-hop scene. Firmly backed by the 101 Boys, Sturla Atlas performed at Iceland’s biggest concert to date, Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour stop in Kórinn, opening up for him two successive nights. In the fall, the guys went for their first gigs overseas, performing on several dates in the UK. They’ve already garnered support from fine international media outputs like i-D, Noisey, Wonderland Magazine, Red Bull Music and more as well as receiving rave reviews for their festival performances in Iceland.
2017 is already looking great. Sturla Atlas & the 101 Boys have a new mixtape out titled “101 Nights”, their most popular to date, and return to Secret Solstice fresh off the stages of The Great Escape and Sónar Barcelona.
