Electropop duo ClubDub burst on the Reykjavik scene with their chart topping single “Clubbed Up” and album “Juice Menu Vol. 1” last summer. Critics have described their sound as a smooth mixture of modern Scandinavian hip hop and electronic music, but they themselves do not want to put a label on their sound and simply describe it as club music. Following the success of Clubbed Up, they released the music video to their sleeper hit “C3PO” of “Juice Menu Vol. 1” to great acclaim. During the summer, ClubDub developed a reputation for an extremely energetic stage performance, playing concerts all over Iceland. In the fall they released the video to “Eina Sem Ég Vil,” a collaboration with Iceland’s rap prince, Aron Can, which topped Iceland’s YouTube and Spotify charts.
In february 2019 ClubDub released a documentary chronicling their success through Iceland’s biggest streaming service. The movie can now be found on YouTube under “ClubDub The Movie”. Shortly after the documentary release they were nominated as Iceland’s greatest hope at the Icelandic Grammys. Early summer 2019 they then released a four song EP titled Tónlist with smash hits “Fokka Upp Klúbbnum” and “Aquaman” which became one of the biggest releases in Icelandic pop that year. Since then ClubDub have been steadily expanding their fan base, playing gigs all over the country and working with exciting producers.
Slowly but surely, ClubDub have become a staple in Iceland’s music scene, releasing hit after hit and never disappointing their fans.
