Herra Hnetusmjör [IS]
Known for dominating the music charts and his energetic stage performance, Herra Hnetusmjör is the single biggest rapper in Iceland.
Starting out in 2014 rapping over other artist’s beats on Youtube, Herra quickly made a name for himself as a technically advanced rapper and lyricist.
Later on, he linked up with local producer Joe Frazier and in 2015 he released his debut album “Flottur Skrákur”.
With two singles getting minor radio play, Herra Hnetusmjör got a taste for blood.
Gradually growing his fanbase by collaborating with key-players in the Icelandic scene, founding the now-prominent “KBE” record label, and dropping one no.1 album after another, Herra’s undeniable success is far from overnight.
In 2018 Herra Hnetusmjör released the single “Upp Til Hópa” with producer Ingi Bauer. Sweeping the nation – with every man, woman and child singing along, the song debuted and stayed at No. 1 on Iceland Top 50 (spotify) for two months straight. Upp Til Hópa was the first single of his album “KBE kynnir: Hetjan Úr Hverfinu” which garnered massive commercial success and was voted Album of the year at the Listeners Awards.
A year later Herra teamed up with labelmate HUGINN for the collaborative album “KBE kynnir: DÖGUN” which included hit singles like “Sorry Mamma” and “Klakar”.
For two years straight every single release from Herra has debuted at number one so if you’re rooting for the underdog,Herra Hnetusmjör is not your guy.
However, if gold teeth, tattoos and dark shades are your cup of tea, you’re sure to find Herra at his own Hip-Hop club “203” which recently opened in down-town Reykjavik.
Whether you’re into hip hop bangers or pop smashes, complex flows or catchy melodies, it doesn’t really matter, Herra Hnetusmjör lets you pick your poison.
