Announcing The Secret Solstice 2017 Opening Ceremony

Save the date! We are delighted to announce our Secret Solstice 2017 Opening Concert will be happening on Thursday 15th June!

With an already stellar lineup including Foo Fighters, The Prodigy, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Anderson .Paak, and many more, with the backdrop of Iceland’s famed midnight sun, our fourth edition during this June’s summer solstice weekend is shaping up to be one to remember. Now, prepare yourself for an extra night of incredible entertainment to kick off what is set to be the biggest summer party in Iceland this year!

Here are all the juicy details so far…

We will begin the night with an opening ceremony performed by JoaqoPelli, a Native American and Basque Gypsy artist who hails from the USA, as he opens and blesses the downtown Reykjavík event site before festivities begin, in what will be a magical and awakening way to kick off Secret Solstice’s 2017 event.

We will then lead into an epic evening of music featuring the legendary Queen of Funk Chaka Khan, with support from must-see Icelandic bands SSSól and Fox Train Safari.

In addition, as has become something of a tradition for Secret Solstice since 2015, an unannounced secret guest will also be scheduled to play the festival’s 2017 opening ceremony. While the act won’t likely be revealed until the day of the ceremony, the previous two years has seen Busta Rhymes and Sister Sledge filling this slot for the event.

Secret Solstice full festival pass holders (including VIP and other higher level tickets) have automatic entry to this epic opening party. However, for those wanting just to attend just this event, a super-limited number of tickets will be opened up to the public with guests having the options to purchase an opening ceremony ticket foronly 5,900kr (approx. £42/€49/$52) while they last. Only 2,000 tickets to this special opening ceremony will be available, going on sale at 11AM tomorrow, the 13^th of April via Eventbrite (for foreign customers), and Tix (for Icelandic sales).

For those wanting to go for the entire event, tickets are available via exclusive ticketing partners Eventbrite and Tix, with full international flight, accommodation, and partner festival pass packages in limited numbers from our airline partner WOW air, and other bespoke travel packages available via Festicket and Festlane.
